INTRODUCTION

The Doctoral Program in Biotechnology and Bioengineering aims to provide doctoral students the education necessary to be leaders in the fast-growing industrial and academic biotechnology and bioengineering sectors. This includes a depth in knowledge and competence in their specific research area as well as a breadth in knowledge of biology, bioengineering, and biotechnology. The combination of coursework, research, thesis committee meetings and exams, and participation in international conferences will form the basis of this education.

Program themes include genomics and proteomics, biomolecular engineering and biomaterials, stem cell biotechnology, neural engineering and therapeutics, biochemical engineering, orthopedic engineering, biomechanics, biorheology, and mechanobiology, cell biophysics, computational biology, biomedical imaging, and molecular, cell, and tissue engineering.
